BYD Storage for Photovoltaic Systems
BYD storage systems are specifically developed for the requirements of modern PV systems. They feature a modular design, high safety (LFP) and long service life. The Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM covers usable capacities of approx. 5.1–12.8 kWh (HVS) and 8.3–22.1 kWh (HVM) respectively and can be scaled by parallel-connecting identical towers up to 38.4 kWh (HVS) or 66.2 kWh (HVM). For commercial applications, the Battery-Max Lite provides 30–90 kWh per cabinet based on 7.5 kWh modules.

Frequently asked questions about BYD storage
Which inverters are BYD batteries compatible with?
The BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM is compatible with a wide range of hybrid and battery inverters, including Fronius, Kostal, GoodWe, Sungrow and others. BYD/EFT-Systems regularly provides an up-to-date compatibility list.
Can BYD batteries be retrofitted into existing PV systems?
Yes. The BYD Battery-Box systems are modular and can be used in combination with compatible hybrid or battery inverters for both new installations and retrofits.
How many modules can be combined?
The Battery-Box Premium HVS consists of 2–5 modules of 2.56 kWh each. Up to 5 modules are possible per tower, and by parallel-connecting up to 3 towers the capacity can be expanded to a max. of 38.4 kWh.
The Battery-Box Premium HVM consists of 3–8 modules of 2.76 kWh each. Up to 8 modules are possible per tower, and by parallel-connecting up to 3 towers the capacity can be expanded to a max. of 66.2 kWh.
Can HVS and HVM modules be combined with each other?
No. HVS and HVM modules are different series and must not be mixed.
Can old and new modules be combined?
In principle only if they are the same type and the production periods are compatible. When expanding, it should always be checked whether suitable modules are available.
Do BYD batteries offer a backup or emergency power function?
Yes, when combined with suitable hybrid inverters (e.g. Fronius GEN24, Kostal Plenticore plus with backup option, GoodWe ET series). The actual backup function depends on the inverter used.
How is commissioning and monitoring carried out?
Commissioning is performed via the respective inverter (e.g. Fronius Solar.web or Kostal Portal). BYD batteries do not have their own monitoring portal but are monitored via the connected inverter.
What protection class and temperature ranges do the batteries have?
All BYD Battery-Box Premium storages are protected to IP55 and are designed for operation in a temperature range of -10 °C to +50 °C. For storage the range is -20 °C to +60 °C.
What warranty conditions apply to BYD batteries?
BYD grants a 10-year product warranty. At least 60% remaining capacity is guaranteed after 10 years or a defined throughput amount (e.g. 37.8 MWh per kWh of storage capacity), whichever is reached first.
