The VAL-MS 1000DC-PV/2+V is a modular Type 2 surge protective device designed for DC circuits in photovoltaic installations up to 1000 V DC. It provides reliable protection against transient overvoltages caused by lightning or switching operations and features plug-in, temperature-monitored modules for easy maintenance and safety monitoring.
Features & Installation Notes
Two-piece DIN-rail module (3 TE) with Y-configuration and optical indicator per plug-in module. Discharge capability up to 40 kA (8/20 µs), nominal discharge current 15 kA, protection level ≤ 3.7 kV, response time ≤ 25 ns. Nominal load current 80 A; maximum continuous voltage UCPV 1170 V DC.
Indoor mounting on 35 mm DIN rail; IP20 protection (when all terminals are used). Connection via M5 screw terminals: 1.5–25 mm² flexible / 1.5–35 mm² solid; stripping length 16 mm; tightening torque 3 Nm (1.5–16 mm²) or 4.5 Nm (25–35 mm²). Housing material halogen-free, UL 94 V-0. Operating temperature −40…+80 °C.
Standards & Approvals: EN/IEC 61643-31 (PV Type 2), UL data incl. VPR 3 kV, MCOV 1170 V DC. Suitable for two-pole isolated and grounded PV systems.
